You will have noticed that The Native State has changed in recent months. We didn’t stock Spell’s latest collection nor have we got MATE’s new tee in.  We’re changing, evolving and moving on to the next chapter. Let me explain a little more….

We started The Native State in June 2012 with the intention of bringing amazing jewellery designers from across the globe to the UK market.  We opened our virtual doors with some amazing brands – Spell, The 2 Bandits, Alushia Sanchia, Alkemie.  As our customer base has grown as has our brand offering and we’re pretty proud that we have been the first shop, in many cases, to have brought these brands to the UK market.  We have some wonderful customers, many who return to shop with us and feel more like friends although we’ve never met.  I feel very grateful….that’s the thing about The Native State, it’s an ‘I’ not a ‘We’. The Native State is not a big company powered by numerous people – The Native State is me, Frankie.  I am the graphic designer, the blogger, the buyer, the packer, the customer service assistant… Everything you read and see comes from me, comes from my heart. So of course it can be hard at times, with the increase in custom and export taxes, wholesale costs and competition but it also means that The Native State can adapt and change more freely.

With that in mind, I have decided to focus more on selling The Native State prints – inspirational and motivational posters which make you smile or put you back on the right path. Through selling on Etsy and directly through The Native State website, this side of the business has really flourished and we’re excited to see it develop over the coming months.

So thank you for being with me over the last few years and while The Native State goes through a few changes, I hope that you will return, connect with us on social media or buy yourself a print which inspires and makes you happy because ultimately, that is what it is all about, right?

When you coming out of a dark, cold Winter like we are in the UK, a beach location for Spell’s recent lookbook, Island Boho, is a great reminder that Spring is on the way.  There is nothing to say that hasn’t been said before about their most recent lookbook – beautiful and simply stunning.

I love that the lookbook is becoming a real family affair with Johnny Abegg as Photographer and Luciana Rose doing Zippy’s beautiful beach waved hair. These shoots must be amazing to work on and if you get to do it surround by friends and family, it is no wonder that Spell and Lizzy create pure magic every time.

Oh and is it just us or does Zippora look like a long-lost Briedis sister?

In a weeks time I’ll be a married lady and heading on an amazing adventure to Alaska with my new husband.  To most, Alaska might be an odd honeymoon destination but my big sister lives in Haines with her adorable family, the newest addition being one week old baby Leon.  I cannot wait to be surrounded by them and surrounded by Alaska’s beautiful landscape and wildlife.

I have visited before. I traveled the three days from Scotland as a surprise, calling the only taxi driver in town as I arrived in the mail plane and we drove around looking for a familiar house. I had seen a photograph but didn’t have the address.  We ate cherry pie, the freshest fish, walked beautiful beaches, drank Brandy Alexanders and laughed. A lot.

My surprise arrival made the local paper. It was a pretty great adventure.

I can’t wait to return with my husband by my side.

There are certain pieces that all girls should have in their wardrobe. A stripe top, trousers or dress should be one.  Easy to dress up or dress down, its an item of clothing that can do no wrong.  Here are a few of our favourite looks x
