You will have noticed that The Native State has changed in recent months. We didn’t stock Spell’s latest collection nor have we got MATE’s new tee in.  We’re changing, evolving and moving on to the next chapter. Let me explain a little more….

We started The Native State in June 2012 with the intention of bringing amazing jewellery designers from across the globe to the UK market.  We opened our virtual doors with some amazing brands – Spell, The 2 Bandits, Alushia Sanchia, Alkemie.  As our customer base has grown as has our brand offering and we’re pretty proud that we have been the first shop, in many cases, to have brought these brands to the UK market.  We have some wonderful customers, many who return to shop with us and feel more like friends although we’ve never met.  I feel very grateful….that’s the thing about The Native State, it’s an ‘I’ not a ‘We’. The Native State is not a big company powered by numerous people – The Native State is me, Frankie.  I am the graphic designer, the blogger, the buyer, the packer, the customer service assistant… Everything you read and see comes from me, comes from my heart. So of course it can be hard at times, with the increase in custom and export taxes, wholesale costs and competition but it also means that The Native State can adapt and change more freely.

With that in mind, I have decided to focus more on selling The Native State prints – inspirational and motivational posters which make you smile or put you back on the right path. Through selling on Etsy and directly through The Native State website, this side of the business has really flourished and we’re excited to see it develop over the coming months.

So thank you for being with me over the last few years and while The Native State goes through a few changes, I hope that you will return, connect with us on social media or buy yourself a print which inspires and makes you happy because ultimately, that is what it is all about, right?

When you coming out of a dark, cold Winter like we are in the UK, a beach location for Spell’s recent lookbook, Island Boho, is a great reminder that Spring is on the way.  There is nothing to say that hasn’t been said before about their most recent lookbook – beautiful and simply stunning.

I love that the lookbook is becoming a real family affair with Johnny Abegg as Photographer and Luciana Rose doing Zippy’s beautiful beach waved hair. These shoots must be amazing to work on and if you get to do it surround by friends and family, it is no wonder that Spell and Lizzy create pure magic every time.

Oh and is it just us or does Zippora look like a long-lost Briedis sister?

Have you check out our new arrivals recently?  We’ve added lots of new prints to the store to help decorate your walls with inspiration, happiness and motivation.  We sure do like words at The Native State.  They’ve often lifted our mood, put us back on the right path or just made us smile.

You've Got This

Reading things like ‘You’ve Got This’ and ‘Do More of What Makes You Happy’ are the pockets of inspiration that gave us the confidence to start The Native State – the words that reminded us to to be bold and brave when it got a little scary, and unfamiliar.

In addition to selling on The Native State, we also have a larger collection of prints on Etsy, please go check them out.  Etsy is such a wonderful source for creatives and I love the unique and individual pieces you can pick up.  Here’s a few of the new wonderful shops we’ve fallen in love with recently:

LightCookie // ThePrimitivePoint // SucculentSalon

As standard, we offer a selection of different sizes from A6 up to A3 although we’re more than happy to make custom prints too.  We recently shipped a ‘TNS Manifesto‘ print in A2 to California.  I’d love to know where exactly it will end up.

The Native State Manifesto

So this is our new journey with The Native State.  Like the many journeys before it, we’re pretty excited and a little nervous but in these circumstances like this, we just think to ourselves….What Would Beyonce Do? 😉

We were a little in awe of Spell’s recent ‘non- lookbook’ with the beautiful Inka. The images have a childlike innocence about them and Inka is pure magic.  Her angelic features are mesmerizing and she makes us revisit the images again and again, making sure we haven’t missed anything.

Inka Williams is a name and face we’ll be talking a lot more about in the future.  We can’t wait.
